My Favorite Plus Size Shops

Growing up one of my biggest insecurities came from not being able to look like all the other girls in clothes. I was a plus size teenager and I will say it sucked! At that time there wasn’t this huge body confidence movement. It was just endless adult stores and me trying my best to find the cute outfits they all my friends had on. I was the largest in my little group and it hurt like hell not being able to go in the store they went in to shop. Now, I can pretty much go into any store and find something for my body type. I thank God that there are so many more options for young girls when it comes to clothes.
Let’s talk about some of my favorite stores right now. There are so many good companies out with plus size clothing, but I’m focused on those local area stores where you can find great pieces to add to your wardrobe. Here are my top 5 stores I’m obsessed with right now....
#5- Old Navy:
What do I love about the Old Navy.... their clearance first and foremost! They always have a sale going on and if you're like me and shop out of season you can really rack up on some great deals. Old Navy is great for dresses for play and work. They also offer great basic pieces like tank tops and t-shirts. Their sizing goes up to a 4x and a size 30 jeans. It’s #5 on my list because their jeans are not the best for me. I have tried numerous types and sizes, but still they don’t fit as well as I would like.
#4- Torrid:
This is a gem that I have been avoiding for a while, but I am now hooked. Torrid has such cute clothes with a wide selection. If you are a young girl, this is the store for you. Their style is definitely on point. The only downside to them is their prices. The reason I stayed away so long was those price tags, but now I understand how to shop there. Coupons, Coupons, Coupons!! Torrid is always running sales and when you see those that’s when you need to shop. If you haven’t checked out this store lately, go take a look. It really is a great place for plus size shopping.
#3- Lane Bryant:
This store has been around for years. When I was younger I attempted to go in there, but everything was oversized and just honestly made me look 50 instead of 21. In the past few years however they have really stepped their game up. They have really improved their fits on their clothes and have much more updated styling.
Lane Bryant can also be considered a little expensive, but the key just like Torrid is coupons. There are so many sales and coupons out there that you should never have to pay full price for anything. If you haven't been to Lane Bryant I would definitely suggest checking them out again.
#2-Target:
My favorite place to be……
Target! This store takes up about 80% of my closet and 50% of my house. I have found some great clothing pieces in Target that were at a great price. This store has it all...Dress clothes, casual wear, work out clothes, and shoes! When you decide you're going shopping at Target I always suggest hitting up the clearance section first. 90% of all my outfits from Target come from their clearance section. They have a great plus size section that offers a wide range of sizes up to 4x and 30w jeans. They also are continually running sales and discounts with Target Circle. Target is definitely a plus size retailer that should be a staple in your closet.
#1-Shein
Right at this moment, I am obsessed with Shein. Why? I know that a lot of people do not care for Shein, but
I have learned to really love it for great staples to add on to items from all the other retailers above. Shein is not the store to do all your shopping or to even get basic pieces, but it is the store to give your wardrobe a quick pick me up. They go up to a size 4x, but their sizing is very hit and miss. I normally wear a 2x and size 18, but with this retailer I wear a 3x and even that sometimes fits too small or too big. They do have a great return policy and if something does not fit you can just return it. I have found the best pieces for me during the Summer and Fall months. If you're looking for some different pieces at a great price, Shein is a great place to go.
These are just a few of the retailers I am loving right now. Each season this list will probably change, but if you're just getting started on your fashion and styling journey these are some great places to start with. Share below any of your favorite retailers! I hope that this blog motivated and inspired you to try something new and embrace your curves.
